这是第一部《爱丽丝梦游仙境》有声电影，在新泽西拍摄。30年代，因刘易斯·卡罗尔的百年诞辰，“真正的”爱丽丝本人也在1932年来到纽约参加庆祝活动(当时80岁)，这部电影很可能是为了利用爱丽丝热而拍摄的。但本作却并不是一部改编自爱丽丝的奇幻电影，而是改编自一部广受欢迎的舞台剧剧本《爱丽丝梦游仙境:三幕中的儿童剧》（1898）。好在这并不妨碍本片在历史上的趣味性。即便画风诡异、造型车祸，但片中的演员们个个都有着能使人过目不忘的独特魅力。
